What’s involved?
Drivers at the Gurston Ascent take part in untimed hill runs on the historic Gurston Down course. This places you at the centre of our celebration of automotive culture, the motorsport spectacle at the heart of the event.

First-time and experienced hill drivers
Gurston Ascent is open to all. You do not need prior hillclimb experience to apply — just the right attitude toward the hill, the event, and your fellow Ascenders.
How the day runs:
Morning arrival, sign-on, and a clear driver briefing to explain the format, safety procedures, and flow of the day.
Arrival & Briefing
Sighted and driven runs throughout the day in batches. One car released at a time - when you are on the hill, the hill is yours.

Time to relax, explore the paddock, chat with other drivers, and enjoy the wider event.
Gurston Ascent is delivered in partnership with the Gurston Down Hillclimb team, following established procedures to ensure a safe and well-managed environment. Marshals, recovery support, and clear communication are in place throughout the day, with all drivers briefed before taking to the hill.
Safety & Support
Vehicle Requirements
Vehicles must be road-legal, mechanically sound, and carry an in date MOT (where appropriate). Final guidance is provided on acceptance to ensure a varied and well-balanced field. We are unable to accommodate EVs on the hill.

Successful applicants receive confirmation and booking details
Pay your entry fee of £175. This covers the driver plus one passenger into the event.
